Shankar keeps his promise to Ritu Pathak
MUMBAI: Shankar Mahadevan made a promise to Indian Idol 2's contestant Ritu Pathak which has now been fulfilled after 3 long years.
With reality shows and judges mushrooming all over the place, so many promises to �give a break to contestants' are made, and so few fulfilled. Shankar Mahadevan stands out of that crowd. The music composer had made a promise to Indian Idol 2's contestant Ritu Pathak that he would give her a break. He remembered and kept his promise after three years. She made her debut in Housefull.
Shankar sir promised me that he will make me sing in his movie. I then came to Mumbai and waited for three years to get the chance, but seeing no hope, I returned home. Suddenly, one day, Shankarji called me to sing in one of his tracks. I was too excited to hear it and I rushed to take on the opportunity. I sung my first song Papa Jaag Jayega... which received a good response. I really thank Shankarji for giving me the identity of a playback singer. He fulfilled his promise... says Ritu. Her life has changed because of the opportunity, which saw more come her way. My life changed when Pritam sir called me. He made me sing for movies like �Hello Darling', �Action Replayy' and �Thank You', says Ritu. She's always wanted to sing romantic songs, but feels it's not the time to be choosy. I want to sing romantic songs but I do not want to be choosy because I am not that big to opt for songs so whatever comes in my way I will happily take it,... she adds humbly.
