Ambarsariya was last minute dash in Fukrey: Sona Mohapatra
MUMBAI: Ram Sampath’s music wrapped with traditional Punjabi lyrics by Munna Dhiman in fabulous voice of Sona Mohapatra makes the track 'Ambarsariya' soothing to hears. The track is from the upcoming comedy film Fukrey. It was on 24 May that the video was out and the track was made available for Mohapatra’s fans to enjoy.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com Mohapatra said, “I have just got back into the country after a lovely trip, was quite surprised and overwhelmed with the response to ‘Ambarsariya’. It's a song in the Fukrey soundtrack that I believed would just be a part of the film soundtrack and not get much attention via a proper release on mass media.”
She further added, “There is always love and appreciation for a song that is soulful and relatively 'quiet' in the middle of all the 'noise'. Apart from that, we also hardly have any songs from the feminine perspective now-a-days." This song is rare. She smiles after she said this.
She added that it was a last minute entry. “We recorded the song in the middle of the night just before the day that we were handing over the album to T Series. Ram Sampath and I knew about it. Ram skyped with a guitar player in England who followed the unusual chords that Ram had written for the song and within 48 hours the song made last minute dash into the soundtrack.”
The track was based on Punjabi lyrics and it was a challenge for Mohapatra who tried her best to ensure that she did justice to the Punjabi pronunciation. “I wanted to retain the authenticity of the language and spirit,” she added.
Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s Fukrey stars Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadda, Vishakha Singh and Priya Anand in the lead roles and is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The music of the film is created by Sampath and the album comprises of six original tracks.
