Ex-Viva girl Neha Bhasin conceives solo album

MUMBAI: Pop singer Neha Bhasin is ready to launch her multi-genre album in the coming few months. It is a commercial album, says Bhasin. "I don't think an artist should limit herself by singing in a particular genre. So, I believe in a multi-genre which has a better commercial value."

The album is being produced and partly composed by Gaurav Dayal and the lyrics are co-written by Bhasin herself with Mukhtiyar. The tunes for the tracks are composed by Dudul Saikia. "There are about four to five tracks ready and we are working on the remaining ones. I have a good team and I enjoy flying to Delhi for shooting the videos of the tracks."

The 'Ek look' singer has already created a niche for herself down south. Her debut song Pesugiren from the film Satham Podhathaey bagged her the Best Female Playback Singer award at the Star Vijay awards recently. Her other ventures down south include Vishnuvardhan's Billa and Yogi.Talking about grabbing an award for a Tamil song, Bhasin says, "The industry down south is a bit more open minded than Bollywood. I doubt my work would be recognised here and I would have been given an award for my debut song. In Bollywood, name matters a lot but down south work is what matters."

The ex- Viva girl is looking for an American producer to launch her English album. She avers, "My English album is a dream project for me and am looking for the right people to work with. I have already written and composed 15-16 tracks and looking forward to launch it too."

Although a product of a talent hunt - Channel [V] Popstars - back in 2002, Bhasin believes the TV space today is flooded with so called reality talent hunt shows. "All the channels are so overdoing it, that it has become a mediocre scene. These shows no longer have the caliber to hunt good talent."

On the Bollywood front, she recently sang a duet with Shaan for Mirchi Movies' film 'Hari Puttar'. "The track is composed by Aadesh Srivastav and has a Punjabi feel to it. The video is choreographed by Ganesh Acharya and will go on air by teh end of August."

Having worked with the musical duo Salim-Suleiman during the making of their Viva album, Bhasin has worked with them again for Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion. The track is a duet with Mohit Chauhan of Silk Route fame.

Her stints on the small screen include hosting the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Hungama programme on Zee Music.
