G Jayalal is AIR's new director general
NEW DELHI: G Jayalal has been promoted as the Director General of All India Radio.
This promotion is a temporary arrangement made by the Ministry of information and broadcasting. Meanwhile, Jayalal will continue to look after his current responsibility as the deputy director general - programming, planning, policy, development and commercial.
On his appointment, Jayalal said, This is a purely temporary arrangement. As per the present order, I'll be holding the current charges of director general until further orders from the Ministry. Nevertheless, at the same time, I will also be completing my present duties as deputy director general programming, planning, policy, development and commercial....
While there has not been any particular time period fixed for Jayalal's tenure as the DG; the promotion came as the post of director general was lying vacant for a year.
