Karaoke World Championship 2012 India announces winners

MUMBAI: Sharvari Deshpande (Mumbai) and Faizan Khurshid (Kolkata) will receive the Karaoke World Championship’ (KWC) trophies and represent India at the world championships to be held in Finland from 27 November-2 December.
Despande won the female category with her performance of ‘Tough Lover’ by Christina Aguilera, while Khurshid topped the male category with rendition of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
The two winners take home the KWC trophies (India) and have earned a chance to take part in the Karaoke World Championships 2012 to be held in Lappeenranta, Finland. Their win also includes, return flights and accommodation in luxurious chalet for six days.
The competition had both, solo and a McDowell’s No. 1 Karaoke Friendzy Round which gave a chance to the group of friends to accompany the ultimate winners all the way to Finland. The group category was won by ‘Nitin & Friends’.
A total of 27 participants from cities like Chandigarh, Shillong, Chennai, Delhi, Calcutta, Goa and Patna participated in the KWC finals. The nation-wide trail began on 15 July in Mumbai.
The Karaoke World Championship’ (KWC) India Finals was held on 7 October in Mumbai. It was judged by actor Javed Jaffrey, singer Manasi Scott, and music directors Raju Singh and Sulaiman Merchant. The evening saw karaoke fanatics celebrities like Shamita Singha , Mashoom Singha , Gavin Miguel , Siddharth Rawal , Hanif Hillai , Arif Patel , Aanchal Kumar , Candice Pinto , Sanea Shaikh , Binal Trivedi , Aki Narula , Alison Kanuga who have been patronizing karaoke from years.
Roland Group who is into importing and exporting of music instruments and software’s was the official karaoke equipment sponsor for the Karaoke World Championship. The winners of the event will receive two Roland VE-5 Vocal Processors and a Roland Headphone – RH-5
The World finale of the event will be held in the last week of November in Finland.
