Leo Burnett dominates Mirchi Kaan Awards 2012; sweeps 'Agency of the Year' & other top honours

MUMBAI: Leo Burnett won the Agency of the Year award and other top honours at the ninth edition of the Mirchi Kaan awards, held yesterday evening at Comedy Store, Phoenix Mills.
The agency also swept away the coveted Crystal award for its 'Beemari' campaign created for Uninor. Among other awards bagged by the agency, Leo Burnett ’s Nikhil Mehrotra won the Radio Writer of the Year and Voice of the Year (Male), while Toshi won the Voice of the Year (Female). This year the agency won four gold, four silver and nine bronze metals at the awards that laud the best creativity in radio advertising.
McCann Erickson bagged three silvers and one bronze, while Ogilvy & Mather won two silver and six bronze metals. The Best Radio Creative of the Year (Clients' Choice) went to Ogilvy & Mather for Perfetti Van Melle's 'Pinku' campaign.
Other winners of the awards include Lingo India, that won excellence in production and Heinz India Pvt. Ltd that bagged the client of the year honour. Radio Mango 91.9 won a silver for its special campaign on World AIDS Day while Result India won the award for Best Use of Radio as a Medium for the 'It's Hot to Pledge' campaign created for Birla Sunlife Insurance Protection Solutions.
ENIL (Radio Mirchi) executive director & CEO Prashant Panday said, “The 9th Mirchi KAAN Awards has been a resounding success with record participation. The jury has selected some of the most innovative campaigns in radio advertising as winners of the KAAN Awards. We are proud to honour the creative talent in the industry”.
The event hosted by Cyrus Broacha was well attended by the top notch of advertising industry. Present at the occasion were AP Parigi, Prashant Panday, Ram Sampath, Vivek Oberoi, Bhaskar Das, Neelesh Misra, Shilpa Rao, Sona Mohapatra, amongst others.
