Misty launches in Gangtok

MUMBAI: The PCM Group's Radio Misty launched its Sikkim station at Gangtok on 31 January.

With this launch, the group now has two FM stations, Siliguri being the first one. Radio Misty Sikkim 95 FM is the first 24X7 FM station of Sikkim, claims the company.

Radio Misty Sikkim will play a blend of popular Hindi music, English music along with local songs, pops, fusion, remixes, retro music and international music. The focus will be on promoting local music.

Radio Misty, that has partnered the BBC and Radio Netherlands worldwide, will air exclusive international music and programmes provided by the two content sources.

A state of art studio is ready at development area in Gangtok, says the company.

Radio Misty, which is aired in the 94.3 MHz in Siliguri, has been allotted change in frequency in Sikkim. Radio Misty, due to its location, can be very well heard in Sikkim from Siliguri. With the same frequency in both cities, airwaves from both stations would have overlapped, making it difficult to catch the frequency of the station in Gangtok. So Misty applied for and was granted a change in frequency. Sikkim listeners will be now in a unique position - they will be able to tune in to two different Misty channels, one aired from Siliguri and the other from Gangtok.

Says Radio Misty Sikkim 95 FM chief executive officer Nishant Mittal, "Radio Misty Sikkim is the First FM station in Sikkim which will be  24 hours live. Radio Misty has a vast library of Hindi music, local and International music."

Commenting on the station's entry in Sikkim, Nishant Mittal said, We are very excited about launching in Sikkim. Our programmes have been put together after much research and understanding of local requirements as it is our endeavour to create content that is relevant, credible and has an aspirational value for listeners. We are completely geared and are eagerly looking forward to entertaining People of Sikkim

Listeners can write letters, sms, call to studios and email their wishes and dedications. Radio Misty will have interactive shows, as well as local programmes and shows that will be updated live with mobile OB vans from the venues. Beside broadcasting from the studio, shows will be aired live from various towns and villages of Sikkim.

The total marketing campaign of Radio Misty plans to be eco friendly, with the theme of 'Clean and Green Sikkim'. The creatives will feature local scenic places; orchids and other local flowers.

Radio Misty plans to promote Sikkim as the most beautiful place on Earth. It will also bring celebrities from Hollywood, Bollywood and from field of Music, Arts, Culture and Sports to perform live at Sikkim, says the company.
