Oscar 2010: 'The Weary Kind' wins best original song
MUMBAI: The winner of the 2010 Academy Award for Best Original Song went to Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett for 'The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)' at the 82nd Academy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night. It was the first Oscar win for both musicians.
Written and directed by Scott Cooper, Crazy Heart was based on the novel by Thomas Cobb, Fox Searchlight Pictures starring Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Robert Duvall. In the film, Bridges stars as a comic and washed up country music singer. Then one day he meets Jean Craddock (Gyllenhall), a journalist, who discovers the real man behind the musician.
The nominees for Best Original Song for this years Oscars were 'Almost There' and 'Down in New Orleans from The Princess and the Frog Music (Lyrics by Randy Newman), 'Loin de Paname' from Paris 36 Music composed by Reinhardt Wagner (lyrics by Frank Thomas), 'Take It All' from NineMusic (lyrics by Maury Yeston) and 'The Weary Kind' from Crazy Heart Music and (lyrics by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett)
Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett also won the award for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes. According to reports, they will be working together again on Bingham's follow-up to his debut album with his band called Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses.
