Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy compose two songs in upcoming Marathi musical for free

MUMBAI: Hit musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have composed two songs for upcoming Marathi film, 'Mitwaa'. In addition to the title song, the award-winning trio have also composed another track from the musical called 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram'. Shankar Mahadevan cites the close friendship between the trio and the director of the film, Swapna Waghmare-Joshi as incentive enough to compose for the film.
Mahadevan spoke to Radioandmusic.com about the trio's work for the film. "Since Swapna is such a close friend of ours, we did not charge her for our work in the film. We have gifted the songs to her. We wanted it to be the mark of the friendship we share with Swapna," Mahadevan said.
During the conception of the music, Joshi pitched the film to Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy in a nutshell. After which, the trio began working in the music with lyricist Mandar Cholakar. Mahadevan call the plot of the film "fantastic".
The film is a romantic love story which stars celebrated Marathi actors Swapnil Joshi and Sonalee Kulkarni. The film is bound to be a musical extravaganza with the director having roped in not one or two, but four music directors to compose for the film. In the addition to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Nilesh Moharir, Amit Raj and Pankaj Padghan have composed music for this film with lyrics by Mandar Cholakar, Ashwini Shende and Mangesh Kangane.
This is not the first time the trio has worked on a Marathi film. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have previously worked on the Nikhil Advani-produced Lokmanya Tilak biopic titled 'Lokmanya', and the upcoming 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusli.'
'Mitwaa' is scheduled to hit theatres across the state on 5 December this year.
