Two Indians in Women Global Singing Talent Hunt
MUMBAI: Selected from about 6000 entries across 60 countries, two Indian contestants represent India globally in Round 1 of AvonVoices, a global singing talent hunt for women.
After recording for first round of AvonVoices in Hong Kong, Shubhangi Tewari's (Delhi) and Aisha Ali's (Bangalore) performance videos are now live and open for voting till Friday, May 20 on the official site of AvonVoices.
In celebration of Avon's 125th anniversary in 2011, Avon Products launched �Avon Voices', its first-ever global singing talent search for women. Since December 1, 2010, Avon Voices had invited women from around the world to join a global movement through music in celebration of the company's 125th Anniversary.
The competition has a renowned judging panel of music-industry like six-time Grammy award winner and lead singer of the most popular American band Black Eyed Peas, Fergie; legendary songwriter, Diane Warren; Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, Natasha Bedingfield ; Lea Salonga, Filipina singer and actress and Russian sensation, Valeriya, among others.
On being selected as Round 1 contender of AvonVoices, 24-year-old Shubhangi Tewari, who currently works as a session vocalist in New Delhi, said, I am honoured to be representing India and would like to thank AvonVoices for giving me the opportunity to be heard by such a distinguished panel of judges....
21-year-old Aisha Ali, who currently works as a Karaoke Jockey and performs at various live shows around Bangalore said, I am extremely excited to be a part of this contest. Avonvoices is providing us with a great platform to showcase our talent as English pop music is fast becoming a rage in India and gaining popularity among youngsters. It will surely be a life changing experience if I get selected to be one of the top 10 contestants who will get to record with none other than the internationally renowned pop star Fergie....
At the conclusion of the program, Diane Warren will be providing an anthem to be recorded by up to 10 global finalists alongside many of Avon Voices celebrity judges. The anthem will debut live at the Avon Foundation for Women Annual Awards Gala, scheduled for Fall 2011 in New York City. The goal of the Talent Search is to find two talented singers – one an Avon Representative and one from general public– who may have the opportunity to record a professionally produced album.
