MUMBAI: Khushboo Grewal, best known for her role in television shows ‘Dil Dostii Dance’, ‘Rang Badalti Odhani’ and ‘Chhajje Chhajje Ka Pyaar’, has emerged as a talented singer over the years.
She started her singing career with the title track of the 2013 Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Boss’ as a backing vocalist and gained fame with the ‘Hate Story 2’ song ‘Pink Lips.’ Since then, there has been no stopping this talented singer. She has gone ahead to croon, ‘Selfiyaan’, ‘Lak Tunu Tunu’, ‘Tu Takke’, and the recent ‘Awesome Mera Mahiya’ amongst others.
Interestingly, the singer credits her success to her daughter, Shanaya. “I was waiting for a breakthrough song to come my way. This is when I recorded for ‘Pink Lips’. Two days after the recording, I learnt about my pregnancy,” said Grewal.
The new mother completely likes her new career path as it gives her enough time with her one-year-old. “This transition is exactly what I needed. With a little kid back home, I couldn’t have taken up a TV show for it takes good 25 days out of your month. Singing helps me balance it all,” stated the singer.
Grewal is not a trained singer but is now working towards enhancing her singing. “I have been training under Sanjay Mishraji of Gwalior Gharana for two years now. He is a fabulous guru. There is a lot more for me to achieve as a singer. This is why every night before I sleep, I tell myself – ‘Miles to go.’ For, this is just the beginning,” averred the singer.
For now, Grewal is just focusing on her live concerts with Meet Bros --she happens to be the lead vocalist of their band -- and her upcoming Bollywood playback projects. “Bollywood music industry is a very competitive market. One has to take strategic career steps. You cannot be impulsive,” explained the actress who continues to get Punjabi film and TV offers.
