Mumbai: Hindustani Classical Music is an integral part of our culture and been preserved for years together. In this millennial age, we discover the underground culture of Hindustani hip-hop and we can’t thank Zoya Akhtar director Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt for making this culture mainstream.
The film-makers, actors launched the Jukebox yesterday with much pomp and much expected craziness. A fluorescent attired Ranveer Singh took the audience on a trip like never before with rapping, who was soon joined on stage with young rapping talents of India. The audience went into frenzy when Ranveer started singing Apna Time Ayega live on stage.
In the Mumbai edition of the music launch - the crew of Gully Boy Ranveer, Alia, Naezy and Divine, along with Siddhant, D-Cypher, Dub Sharma, D’evil, MC Altaf, Rahul Raahi, Nexus, Spitfire, Ace, Kaam Bihari, Beatraw, MC Todfod, Maharya, 100RBH, Moxious D and Dee MC will be performing. Unlike a traditional music launch this one is an event which was opened up to the public.
The main attraction, however, was Ranveer Singh and his infectious energy. Bira 91, India’s leading beer brand announced its association with Gully Boy. Bira 91 also has an exclusive track in the film titled ‘India 91’; representing modern India. The track has music from a mix of rappers from across the country. The track is a representation of modern India and further strengthens the brands long standing association with hip-hop.
The movie is all set to release on 14 February 2019 this year.
