Producing 'Hindustani' was challenging: Meghdeep Bose

MUMBAI: The upcoming Bollywood movie, PM Narendra Modi might have got caught in a storm of controversies, but its music producer Meghdeep Bose wants to stay away from the political hassle, the movie is caught in. Meghdeep has produced music for three songs for the biopic, whose release is yet stalled.

Speaking about producing for three songs, Meghdeep Bose says, “I've produced three tracks on the album - Saugandh, Hindustani and Fakeera, two of them are originals, while Hindustani is a recreation of the legendary Shankar Ehsaan Loy's Suno Gaur Se.”

“Every song on the album has a different colour. But, the most challenging one to produce was Hindustani as I had the pressure of producing something that could live up to the level at which, Shankar Ehsaan Loy had made its original more than two decades back,” he adds.

Bose further exclaims, “The fun part was that I found Siddharth Mahadevan to be the perfect descendent to the legacy and what he delivered was absolutely magical.”

His other two songs are inspired by A.R. Rahman’s musical work. He reveals, “In the songs Saugandh and Fakeera, I've tried to amalgamate the sonic characteristics of Rahman saab from his 90's songs. I've grown up listening to his music and it was something that I really wanted to incorporate in the music of this film.”

Further, speaking on his collaboration, Meghdeep says, "Music composer Shashi Suman has been my oldest associate in the industry, so I've always been very comfortable, open and super excited when producing for him. When he approached me (as a part of the duo Shashi-Khushi) to produce these songs, I took up the project without a second thought as it was a chance for us to collaborate after almost three years (the last film being Sarbjit).”

“But, apart from fun, it was equally challenging because Shashi's melodies are so beautiful and standalone,” he adds.

Lastly, he spoke about director Sandeep Ssingh, “The film's producer and creative director Sandeep Ssingh put me to absolute freedom and zero commercial pressures to achieve the album's sound. The album left me with a lot of pride and satisfaction for the kind of music we could achieve.”

All of the above three songs were released to be removed later owing to the controversies. We hope, post EC’s (Election Commission) decision, the songs too see light of the day.

Meanwhile, seven members of the Election Commission have watched the movie and lead actor Vivek Oberoi, who has played Modi in the movie, is hopeful about the film’s release to happen soon.
