MUMBAI: Lyricist Prashant Ingole, who has penned songs in films like "Bajirao Mastani" and "Mary Kom", is pitching in to provide food and more for the underprivileged in Pune, among the cities that have been worst-hit by COVID-19 in India.
He also recently donated 300 masks at Koregaon Park and Mundhwa Police.
"I recently donated 25 packets of grocery for at least 15 days at the Vadgaon Sheri, Pune. I plan on doing the same in my area in Koregaon Park in Pune," he told IANS.
He has been helping people since the time the second lockdown was announced in April.
"I feel in a situation like this, sharing is a must," said Prashant.
"My needs and my family's demands are not much and we are very simple people. Since our expenses are not high, I am happy to share a part of it with the needy, the real needy people," he added.
But with music and film industries being affected by the lockdown, how is he managing to spend so much on arranging grocery, masks and other essentials for people in need?
"Sharing a part of what I am getting and that too in the pious month of Ramzan...I believe in the Zakat format of Muslims where you share at least 2 percent of your income amongst the underprivileged. And this is a crucial time. I hope I can be of some help, if not materialistically at least mentally, I wanna support people with my posts and positive thoughts," he said.
