MUMBAI: Composer Amaal Mallik is on cloud nine as his song 'Sooraj Dooba Hai' from the film 'Roy' has getting a lot of positive responses. The track, which is Malik's only composition in the Ranbir Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, has been sung by Arijit Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma. Mallik made his debut in Bollywood with the Salman Khan film 'Jai Ho' as a music director.
Talking about the song, Mallik said, "Bhushan Kumarji heard all the songs I have in my library and he zeroed down on this one and said that he would like to hear the final version of the song since a very few lines had been written. Kumar wrote the lyrics of the song and it is receiving great response."
Until the song was recorded, Mallik was not sure whether or not it would be picked up for 'Roy'. "Bhushanji then told me that it was for 'Roy' and showed me the poster and I was pleasantly surprised. Even when I composed for 'Jai Ho' I never thought it would be picked for such a big film," he further added.
For the male vocals in the song in the film, Mallik stated that he wanted a voice that does not sing many peppy numbers. "Arjit was one name that came to my mind and he too was extremely happy when he heard the song. He told me that he wished to maintain his style and will add my attitude to the song," explained the 23 year old.
According to Mallik, hailing from a musical background helps to get the first break, to an extent, but one can survive only if he or she possesses talent. "People say it is a cakewalk for me to get projects, but they actually do not see the hard work that I had put in. I had started assisting a few music composers since I was 16 and it was only last year that I got a break in Bollywood," he concluded.
