MUMBAI: Javed Ali and the Nooran sisters will pay tribute to the 'Mozart of Madras'- AR Rahman at the IIFA Awards 2015, which will be held in Malaysia on 5th June, 2015.
"This is my first performance at an award function, which is why I am really excited. I will be paying tribute to AR Rahman sir, with Jyoti and Sultana Nooran, by presenting a medley of songs composed by him. I received my fist IIFA Award for 'Jashn-e-Bahara' from 'Jodhaa Akbar' which was also composed by Rahman sir," revealed Ali. However, owing to the reasons of confidentiality, he did not spill the beans on the songs that he the trio will perform.
The 'Guzarish' singer is also currently working on a couple of independent projects which will be releasing very soon. "I have just started working on this project, though I would not call it independent music as it would be very unfair to catogorise music. But the upcoming project will be completely different and I hope it turns out to be successful," he stated.
According to Ali, it is important for an artist to have creative freedom, especially when working on scripts. "When you are not bound by rules of a script, you can sing a song whole heartedly, and this is when you can utilise your potential to an optimum level," he commented.
The IIFA awards will also see performances from musicians like Ankit Tiwari, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Kanika Kapoor and Mika Singh.
