MUMBAI: Following on from his cult release Gone Fishin in June this year, north London rapper King Kofi comes through with the new visuals for his new track Don’t Play Games.
The third release from his upcoming debut Summer With The Wolves LP (via the This Is Not Yellow imprint).
Featuring indie/folk/R&B singer Joshua Igbo with a smooth neo-soul chorus, King Kofi juxtaposes his emotive, melancholic lyrics over a bright and poppy instrumental that continues the rapper’s signature unorthodox and compelling style.
With the Summer With The Wolves LP released 28 January 2018, Don’t Play Games channels the kind of jagged yet mainstream-looking instrumental seen with Childish Gambino, but with his conscious, unpolished flow and tone, King Kofi is very much making his own lane and continues to garner a cult fanbase across the city. Performing live for the album launch on 12 January 2018 at the Soapbox, Islington, King Kofi’s ambition and erratic style is something to keep an eye on moving into next year.
