With the presence of Sunny Leone on screen, one can expect oodles of sensuality dripping from songs and the movie ‘Ek Paheli Leela’. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. The movie features Sunny Leone, Rajneesh Duggal, Jay Bhanushali and Rahul Dev. The trailer of the film on YouTube got more than 13 million views. The album comprises nine tracks. Let us see if the songs of the movie have something to offer to the listeners.
Meri Desi Look
Crooned by Kanika Kapoor, written by Kumaar and composed by Dr. Zeus, the album starts with the song ‘Meri Desi Look’, which does not offer anything you have not heard before. The song very closely resembles ‘Lovely’ from the film ‘Happy New Year’. Generally, when you have a song crooned by Kapoor, you look forward to it. This time however, the case is different. The song is a total turn off.
Tere Bin Nahi Laage (Male)
Sung and composed by Uzair Jaswal, the track is easy on ears and is a slow romantic number. Jaswal’s vocals remind you quite a bit of Atif Aslam. The track is arranged by ‘Sooraj Dooba Ha’ composer Amaal Mallik.
Saiyaan Superstar
This is a surprise package in the form of Tulsi Kumar Rahlan singing a typical ‘shaadi’ song. In the past, she has sung quite a few romantic numbers, but this is the first time the songstress has tried a peppy number. While the track is a decent effort, it would have been better if the music video was done better. Full marks to composer Amaal Mallik, Tulsi Kumar Ralhan and lyricist Kummar.
Khudha Bhi
The romantic track ‘Khuda Bhi’ is another beautiful track, sung by Mohit Chauhan. The highlight of the track is the lyrics, which are written by Manoj Muntashir and praises a woman in a very respectable manner. Chauhan does his job very well to bring emotion to the words. ‘Khuda Bhi’ is composed by Tony Kakar.
Glamorous Akhiyaan
‘Glamorous Akhiyan’ is another great song on the album. Composed by Meet Brothers Anjjan and penned by Kumaar, Krishna Beura does a wonderful job behind the mic. Though the composition is average, the vocals stand out in the song.
Main Hoon Deewana Tera
While we love Arijit Singh, it is unclear why the producer would even think of recreating Sonu Nigam’s song ‘Main Hoon Deewana Tera’. The song is not half as good as the original, and even the lyrics are ordinary. The track leaves you contemplating the purpose of adding a tinge of EDM to such a beautiful track. Singh, meanwhile, tries his best to do justice to the track, but fails to do so. The song is composed by Meet Brothers Anjjan. Overall, it fails to impress.
Dhol Baje
This is another remake of the song ‘Dhol Baje’, originally from ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, and another bad rendition. Monali Thakur does a fairly good job on vocals, but adding a Rajasthani touch to the beats of the dhool does not seem to work. The composition by Meet Brothers Anjjan, and lyrics by Kumaar are below average.
Tere Bin Nahi Laage (Female)
‘Tere Bin Nahi Laage’ is a beautiful track that starts with the high pitched vocals of Aishwarya Majumdar and later Tulsi Kumar takes the charge. The track is soothing and soulful, and is one of the more memorable ones on the album. This version of ‘Tere Bin Nahi Laage’ is composed by Uzair Jaswal and is written by Kumaar.
Ek Do Teen Chaar
‘Ek Do Teen Chaar’ is another number which will make you hit the stop button rather quickly. The track has nothing new. The composition is common and we have already heard Neha Kakar trying to get extra saucy in her previous songs. Overall-a really bad song.
Apart from a few good tracks, the album has badly done remakes which simply sound like fillers. ‘Ek Paheli Leela’ is a below average album, but hopefully, the film will be better. The film releases on 10 April 2015.
