Mili Nair turns songwriter, working on debut solo album
MUMBAI: 'Meethi Boliyaan' singer Mili Nair seems to be working on her debut album, which she is looking to release in 2014. She also plans to tour solo mid 2014 following the album release.
After having recently discovered her song-writing abilities, the singer will be writing and composing for her own album but has brought on board a lyricist whose name she refuses to disclose. "I would like to see myself as a composer and song writer," she commented.
Speaking about the tone of the music, she shared that the album will have jazz elements in most songs, while some will have a very strong jazz flavor. She hopes to incorporate a lot of genres, including rock and pop in the album. She also said that she is considering a few languages like Hindi, English and Tamil for her album.
Further building the suspense, Nair said, "There will be some good collaboration with really talented people from the industry who genuinely like the stuff. The album is an ongoing thing that is taking shape and I am very fortunate to work with some wonderful musicians from abroad as well."
The 'Tumse Pyaar Ho Gaya' singer spoke about the progress of her work. "One song is ready. I am still working on the second and third songs. It has already been delayed and these things take time. I had planned to release it in December 2013," she added.
With such a busy schedule, we asked the singer when she gets time to work on her own music. "My music work happens late at night when I get time to do things for myself," she laughed. "It is nice to see that happening; to see people coming together for music which I am writing. I never expected that and it feels lovely. I have not thought much about how it is going to turn out. It is heartfelt music and I am putting in the money and hard work to make it happen."
Having worked with composers like AR Rahman, Amit Trivedi, Pritam and India's living Jazz legend Louiz Bans seems to have given Nair a visible moral boost.
The artiste says that fans will see a lot of things materialise in terms of work and live shows and collaborations from her side.
