Rahman Sir gets the best out of you and loves experimenting: Javed Ali
MUMBAI: Javed Ali is one of the finest singers, when it comes to soft romantic songs. But now the singer is experimenting with different genres. After his upbeat track 'Galat Baat Hai' from the film 'Main Tera Hero', the singer has lent his voice for two tracks 'Bol De' and 'Mera Gham' for the film Kochadaiiyaan, for which AR Rahman has composed the music.
"The track 'Bol De' was dubbed twice. The first time when I recorded the song, Rahman Sir was not around. It was while we were on our way to Udaipur for a show, he asked me to re-dub the song," said Ali to Radioandmusic.com's Dhairya Ingle. The first time he recorded the song, he sung it very softly, but it was the composer who asked him to imbibe the emotions of a warrior, since Kochadaiiyaan is also a warrior.
Ali added, "Rahman Sir created a studio out of a hotel room and it was in Udaipur that we recorded the song. Initially he asked me to re-record only a few lines but then we were in such a good mood that we recorded the whole song. The second time round, I sang the song with a bold voice. 'Bol De' conveys the message of never give up and is inspirational too." The other track is 'Mera Gham', in which he has just has a few lines, while most of it is sung by Shreya Ghoshal.
When asked about one trait of AR Rahman which he likes the most, Ali replied, "Rahman Sir gets the best out of you and loves experimenting. If he gets something good out of your voice, it will definitely remain in the song. With this he also gives you a lot of creative freedom."
Javed Ali also has a couple of songs in the upcoming film 'Hawa Hawai' and is also working on an independent project.
