Country Music Stars confederate railroad to perform concert in Hamlin

MUMBAI: Honky-tonk legends and multi-platinum recording artist Confederate Railroad will be headlining ‘Heat'n the Hills Chilifest’ Saturday, 24 August.

Confederate Railroad is touring the country in support of their 20th anniversary of receiving the Country Music Association’s ‘Best New Artist’ trophy in 1993 in the wake of their double platinum self-titled debut album. The disc featured six hit singles, including 'She Took It Like a Man,' 'Jesus and Mama,' 'Queen of Memphis,' 'When You Leave That Way You Can Never Go Back,' and their signature track 'Trashy Women,' which was nominated for a Grammy.

The group, led by vocalist and guitarist Danny Shirley, famously got their start as the backup band for outlaw legends David Allen Coe and Johnny Paycheck. Confederate Railroad has spent the past two decades racking up 18 charting hits, over five million album sales and crisscrossing the globe for thousands of concert appearances in the process. They will be signing autographs and posing for fan photos after their performance.

Also appearing at this year’s Heat’n The Hills Chilifest are Walmart singing sensation Kayla Slone, fresh from her Grand Ole Opry appearance, a trip to the ACM Awards courtesy of Dierks Bentley, and concerts with Loretta Lynn and the Marshall Tucker Band. Attendees will also hear performances from local favorites The L C Band and bluegrass trio The Band Wagon. The full day of festivities includes the much-anticipated annual chili cook-off with over 30 different varieties of chili to sample. The evening will be capped off by a huge fireworks display lighting up the star-filled West Virginia night sky.

The Heat’n the Hills Chilifest event is free, but donations are being accepted at Chilifest and the proceeding day’s health fair to benefit Lincoln Primary Care Center's senior lunch programme, which serves 120 meals to the area's seniors daily.
