Hard Kaur: 'I would love to collaborate with Chris Brown, Jay-Z and Kanye west'

MUMBAI: India's first female rapper Taran Kaur Dhillon a.k.a Hard Kaur' who has redefined hip-hop music in Bollywood industry with an array of chartbusters is one of the top rated performing artistes in India and abroad. The UK based rapper has been widely acclaimed for her performances in chartbusters like Move Your body, Ek Glassy, Laungda Laskara, Mein Tera Dhadkan Teri and many more.

Hard Kaur credits the music industry for accepting new talents open heartedly and giving them a chance to experiment with new sounds.  She enunciates, Party abi baaki hai, the success of the track proved the music directors that you have to learn to except new ideas and give a chance to fresh talent....

But even though there are positive responses from the industry, Hard Kaur still ridicules on the sorry state of non-film music. The gregarious singer retorts, There were days when one could enjoy Bollywood and non-film music, but today the music market has been completely destroyed. Record labels and music TV channels are only promoting what they get paid for, and not for the public liking. You don't have much choice....

It will get better slowly, once the media and labels start believing in artistes. It's always been the case in India, while in the west you have your film stars and Rockstars … India is ruled only on bollywood stars," she adds.

Hard Kaur has not limited herself to Bollywood music, after her successful debut of Supawoman' album in 2007 the rapper will soon release her collaborative album, produced in association with 13 times Grammy award winner Eminem's Group D12.'

The rapper has already boosted the excitement about her album by posting the video track Desi Dance feat D12' on social media. The excited Hard Kaur illuminates her experience of recording with new group, I really enjoyed recording for the album with the boys in Detroit and we have also recently shot the video for the album in London. The whole album will be out soon, I have just released a sneak peak track 'Desi Dance' for my fans to enjoy....

Apart from Eminem's D12, Hard Kaur has earlier teamed with several international artistes but has a never ending wish list. She slyly quips, That list is too long. But to start with I would love to associate with one of my favorite rapper Busta Rhymes and then with Chris Brown, Jay-Z, Kanye West and many more…....

The D12 collaborative album is not the only offering by Kaur to her music aficionados; the UK based rapper is all geared up for her second US concert The Takeover Tour 2011.' The month long tour scheduled to commence from 1st October will also include some of the famous artistes like Culture Shock, Imran Khan, H-Dhami and DJ Kamran.

Ecstatic with the tour, rapper states, The tour is looking good, the official dates and ticket information are still to be announced but I am all set to go out there and kill it....

There are numerous international and national concerts that take place over a year, and although Kaur has toured substantially, she prefers Indian venues over international, elucidating her preferences Kaur explains, I feel people in India enjoy themselves much more, as the scale of things is larger . Fans in India enjoy more of my Bollywood stuff and aboard they like my non-film tracks from my albums as well as bollywood stuff....

Hard Kaur entered music industry in 2007, and rocked the clubs and party venues with her hip track Ek Glassy... reminiscing on her bollywood venture with SEL and the easy acceptance in the industry as first female rapper, she reveals, I think in India, there has always been respect for female artistes right from Surinder Kaur to Lata Mangeshkar.  In west like UK and US the acceptance was usually a problem and there aren't so many female rappers, as it's really difficult technique....

When I came to do shows in 2007… I got to meet Shankar Ehsaan Loy … I couldn't believe it...My first Bollywood song 'Move your Body' with one of the biggest music directors in the industry. I was so excited and that is why I'll never forget that opportunity and will always have the biggest respect for SEL,... she further adds.

Hard Kaur who is always loved by DJs for her experimental music nationally as well as internationally desires to pass on the legacy by educating the young music enthusiasts with experiment styles of music and hip-hop taking music to an international level.
