International artistes join hands for 'MTV Video Music Aid Japan'

MUMBAI: MTV Japan's Video Music Awards, renamed to MTV Video Music Aid Japan to benefit the Japanese Red Cross will be held on saturday, 25 June at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

Star-studded line up of performers for VMAJ includes Lady Gaga, Tokio Hotel, Namie Amuro, Girls' Generation, SHINee, Exile, Kana Nishino, One Night Only, Monkey Majik and more. The event will be hosted by AKB48.

MTV Video Music Aid Japan is the culmination of MTV Japan's Music of Hope campaign, for March 11 earthquake and tsunami. A special one-hour version of the event will air worldwide on MTV weekly live music series, MTV World Stage on 29 July.

International artiste Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem, Justin Bieber and Linkin Park along with Japanese artistes Ikimonogakari, Miliyah Kato and Kana Nishino, K-pop sensation Girls Generation are nominated for three categories each.

Other nominees are Avril Lavigne, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Kanye West along with Japanese artists AI and Yui.
