Lady Gaga to rock Japan on New Year's eve

MUMBAI: On New Year's eve Lady Gaga ia all set to rock at the music extravaganza Kohaku Uta Gassen(Red and White Singing Contest)', an annual event in Japan.

The paparazzi queen will appear live from New York City and the performance will take place in the mid-morning coinciding with the broadcast time in Japan. The singer will also appear on Japan's weekly music show Music Station' on 23 December.

Gaga has been a strong supporter of Japan since the triple disasters in March of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident. She was one of the few stars that did not cancel her live concerts in the country in the months after the nuclear crisis. Gaga also issued We Pray for Japan' bracelets with all the money going to disaster victims.

The 62nd edition of Kohaku Uta Gassen will also round up the popular domestic musical acts for a good-natured New Year's Eve singing contest wherein women will compete against men. The event is always shot live for the performers in Japan and the show encourages international performers, even when overseas, to perform live.

Gaga is also slated to appear on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve and will perform live in New York City's Times Square.
