MUMBAI: After the successful concert-cum-gigs with musicians like drummer Virgil Donati and guitarist Brett Garsed last year, this time the 'Sandeep Chowta Project' is back with Metro.

Metro brings five renowned musicians from the jazz world like Mitch Forman, Chuck Loeb, Dave Weckl, Eric Marienthal, Melvin Davis to perform on 11 February at St Andrews auditorium Bandra and on 14 February at Bangalore.

Drummer Dave Weckl

A student of the art of drumming and music, Dave gives back every chance he gets through clinics and classes all over the world. When he's not recording, touring, producing, and working with companies he endorses to build better products, he conducts clinics and classes all over the world. He has also released a series of instructional videotapes. The Dave Weckl Band has released its hot live album, "LIVE" and a compilation of instructional videos entitled 'The Zone'. Dave Weckl was named "one of the 25 best drummers of all time by Modern Drummer - the world's most widely read drumming magazine. Weckl has also played for seven years with the Chick Corea Elektric and Akoustic Bands, which produced nine recordings and eventually won a Grammy with the Akoustic Band for their first release.

Pianist Mitchel Forman

Mitchel Forman was one of the most sought after studio musicians in New York and has worked with a number of gifted artists like John Scofield, Bill Evans, and John McLaughlin, among others. He joined MacLaughlin's Mahavishnu and toured with him for a year and a half, recording and contributing to two of the band's benchmark recordings – 'Mahavishnu' and 'Adventures in Radioland'. Forman's most recent releases have been "Mr. Clean" and "Patience", both on his own label 'Marsis Jazz'. He also co-leads the band Metro with guitarist Chuck Loeb.

Jazz Guitarist Chuck Loeb

Jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb is composer, arranger, producer, educator and recording artist and has a music career spanning four decades. Apart from producing his own albums and albums for a number of acclaimed artists, he has composed music for jingles, television programs and motion pictures. Having studied under musicians such as Jim Hall, Pat Metheny and Joe Puma, Loeb made his first solo record in 1988, before which he had played with musicians such as Stan Getz, Michael Brecker, Michael Mainieri, Peter Erskine and Victor Bailey, to name a few. Loeb is currently signed to jazz label Heads Up, his debut album 'Presence' has received accolades the world over. Along with his solo career, he records with 'Metro', a four-piece contemporary jazz combo comprising keyboardist Mitch Forman, drummer Wolfgang Haffner, and a number of different bassists.

Melvin Davis

Melvin Lee Davis, originally from Los Angeles, was discovered by Buddy Miles at the tender age of 16, playing the horn in a local club. He went to New York to audition for Buddy Miles' band, and was immediately hired. He became an instant hit on the New York club circuit. As news of his talent for bass, keyboards and vocals spread, offers started pouring in, and Davis soon found himself working with Don Cornelius of the popular syndicated television program "Soul Train."

Expert at playing the 4, 5, 6 and 7 string basses, fretted and fretless, acoustic bass, synth bass, keyboards, lead and backing vocals, Melvin Davis is respected the world over for his superior talent as well as his electric personality on and off the stage. His is proficient in many styles including gospel, blues, jazz, R&B, pop, soul/funk, and hip hop, making him constantly in demand across many genres of music.

Eric Marienthal

Best known for his work in jazz, smooth jazz, and pop, Eric Marienthal is a Los Angeles-based saxophonist who has performed in over 60 countries, recorded 11 solo CDs, and played on hundreds of records, films and TV shows. Apart from having recorded 6 albums and winning 2 Grammys with the Chick Corea Elektric Band, Marienthal has performed with artists such as Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Lee Ritenour, Steve Vai, Taylor Hicks, David Benoit, The Rippingtons, The Yellowjackets, Akira Jimbo, Neil Zaza, John Tesh and many others. He is one of the most recorded sax players in contemporary jazz.

He has written 3 instructional books, filmed 3 instructional videos, and for the past 8 years, he has put on an annual fundraising concert for High Hopes Head Injury Program, a non-profit organization in California that works with people who have suffered traumatic head injuries. Presently, he is busy touring and recording with his own band and the other bands he plays with. He is currently signed to Peak Records, owned by Russ Freeman, founder of The Rippingtons – one of the bands that he is a member of. His latest solo CD is entitled "Just Around The Corner."
