Sutasi to air on Zee Cafe

MUMBAI: Sutasi, the search for new up and coming contemporary Asian music talent will soon commence broadcasting throughout India with Zee Caf?© starting the first episode on Sunday 28 June, 2009. It has been a whirlwind journey for the 37 bands, solo artists and songwriters from across Asia so far who are featured in the 7-episode television series. All finalists are now waiting to find out who will advance to the Grand Final.

Asia Sounds Founder & President Colleen Zulian says Sutasi is not about putting artists on the stage to be judged or ridiculed for the sake of entertainment. The quality of musicianship and performance will be evident to everyone who watches the shows. These artists represent some of the very best talent that Asia has to offer and their performances will be treated respectfully and fairly by a panel of industry experts from around the world. Sutasi's objectives are very clear. These artists and musicians deserve to be seen and heard by everyone and Sutasi is offering very real opportunities for this to happen....

Of the 37 Bands, solo artists and songwriters selected from across Asia, 13 of these acts are from South Asia which stands as the largest group in the competition and is a testament to the standard and quality of artists in this region. The finalists will be judged by a panel of internationally respected music industry professionals who will select a winning solo artist and band from each region to go through to the Grand Final. Through public selection one wildcard entrant from South Asia, North East Asia and South East Asia will qualify for the Grand Final bringing the total to 10 Grand Finalists competing for the grand prize including one songwriter who will also be decided by public voting via phone and internet.

The winning finalists will share in over one million US dollars in cash and prizes including the opportunity to co-write with successful & international songwriters, record an album with commercially successful producers, global marketing and promotion, and the star role in a music video for worldwide release. Behind the lens is producer Anke Thommen, an award winning talent. Thommen has worked with stars such as Beyonce, Celine Dion, Jay Z, Madonna and Asian superstar Rain (Korea). She is also credited to have created the first HD multi–camera 'live to tape' musical performance series shot completely tapeless. The shows have been created and produced by Asia Sounds Film and TV, Los Angeles.
