MUMBAI: Finally the official countdown begins. Few more hours for India's biggest most awaited event ‘Global Citizen Festival India’ to begin. More than 60,000 fans across the globe will be seen attending the event at MMRDA ground, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
As many are aware about the stars for the event night who will be performing namely The Coldplay, Arijit Singh, Jay Z, AR Rahman, Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa and many more.
Coldplay
Coldplay is a four-member British rock band. Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion first formed the band in 1996 and named it Pectoralz. In the year 2000, the band achieved worldwide recognition and success with their hit single 'Yellow'. Since then the band has been gauging fans across globe. Did you know apart from their tours, the band has also performed for various charity projects like Band Aid 20, Live 8, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now, Sports Relief, and UK's Teenage Cancer Trust. Recently, the band also came up with a video ‘ Hymn of the Weeken’ staring Sonam Kapoor in January this year. The video was shot in October 2015 at various Indian cities including Varanasi Worli Village, Mumbai and Kolkata. The song was performed Live for the first time during the 2016 Brit Awards on 24 February.
Karsh Kale
Karsh Kale is an Indian American musician, producer and composer, and is considered one of the pioneering figures in defining the Asian Underground genre by mixing genres of music. The type of music he has been working with are Indian classical and folk with electronica, rock, pop and ambient music. Kale is also known for his Tabla drumming. Karsh Kale was part of a George Harrison tribute performance at the New York edition of the global citizen award festival in September 2016 .Kale has also worked with Midival Punditz an Indian fusion band based in Delhi. Their style revolves mostly around changer, Oldschool jungle, Electronica, and North Indian classical music. Midival Punditz released their album ‘Light’ in April 2015 which turned up to be a hit.
The Vamps
The Bristish pop-rock band The Vamp will also be seen performing at the event. Interestingly, The Vamps, artistes of Virgin EMI UK, made their debut India visit earlier this year for collaborating with Vishal-Shekhar for the song ‘Beliya’.The Vamps also worked on a song for Ajay Devgn's recently released ‘Shivaay’.
Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy
AR Rahman’s newly discovery Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy has worked with Rahman since a good time. Rahman recently unveiled a poster this year for his latest project. Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy is a beat-boxer, ex-vocalist for Mumbai's post-hardcore band Scribe and a director at Corcoise films. See his performing at The Global Festival Live.
Nina and Malika
We will also see performing female DJ duo Nina Shah and Malika Hayden whose goal is to give people an experience of connectivity through the vibration of music. For years now electronic and dance music has been a major obsession, leading them to find their passion which is producing music and DJing. It is said that their electric energy is contagious enough to get any party pumping. Nina and Malika along with Zaeden realised their latest album' Never Let You Go' in July , 2016. It turned out to have reached 3 million views.
DJ Clement
A New Zealand comedian, actor, writer, director, and multi-instrumentalist Jemaine Clement commonly known as Dj Clement. He plays instruments like Bass guitar, guitar, percussion. Dj Clement’s eclectic sounds have shared a stage as well as collaborated with many foreign artists like Akon, Nadia Ali, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Fedde Le Grand, Kaskade, Chicane, Wolf Pack, Axwell ans many more. Clement and Bret McKenzie have toured internationally and released four CDs: Folk the World Tour , The Distant Future EP (winner of 2008 Grammy for Best Comedy Album), Flight of the Conchords and I Told You I Was Freaky.
Lost Stories
Lost Stories is an Indian electronic music duo composed of Prayag Mehta and Rishab Joshi. They are known for their official remixes for Alan Walker "Faded" and One Republic "Wherever I Go".
Their debut studio album, Music For The # Generation released on 23 August 2013. Their album launch tour began on 23 August at the Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai, and they’ve gone to Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore since then. Their remix of the track Afrojack feat. Spree Wilson- The Spark was featured in the official music video of the single.On August 6, 2016, they released an Indian remix of Alan Walker's Faded.Lost Stories released an official remix of "Wherever I Go" by One Republic.
