MUMBAI: Delhi’s Purana Quila will light up on 24 September for a performance by popular Indie musician Raghu Dixit. He will be playing at a one-off ‘Light the way’ event which will be attended by thousands of Indian citizens, who will gather at the venue to cheer Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s New York arrival to attend the UN General Assembly.
Alongside other world leaders, Modi will sign the new Global Goals, which aim to tackle poverty, inequality and climate change over the next 15 years. Apart from performance by Dixit, the event will include a unique laser light show, illuminating Purana Quila and bringing update on Global Goals.
Dixit said, “PM’s visit to UNGA is a momentous occasion for every Indian. The commitment he makes there, will impact each one of us for generations to come. It is a privilege to be part of an event that sends the message directly to our leader, that the country supports him and is depending upon him to ensure a better future for the people and the planet.”
Images from the event will be screened outside the UN, where leaders and influencers from across the world will gather.
The event is organised by action/2015, in partnership with Save the Children, Seher (organisers of the South Asian Bands festival and Delhi Jazz Festival) and the United Nations. ‘Light the way’ is a free entry event that is open to all.
