Disclosure release second studio album 'Caracal'

MUMBAI: English DJ duo Disclosure recently released its second studio album ‘Caracal’ under PMR and Island label. Often credited with redefining and popularising the deep house genre, the duo have extensively used sizzling pads, swelling basslines and major spatial textures – without compromising on danceable hooks –further experimenting with their sound and style.

Disclosure have made it known that they hate being repetitive, and have focused more on the songwriting for ‘Caracal’, ensuring their songs remain more inclined to the culmination of sounds they have experimented so far.

“There’s not any really club music on this one. It’s all very club-influenced, because of the beats, but every song is like ‘Latch’ or ‘White Noise’ — a fully structured pop song”, said the duo in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

Much like their previous works, ‘Caracal’ features various collaborations with Lorde and Sam Smith. The album begins with the track ‘Nocturnal’, which is the longest track on the album and features The Weeknd.

Disclosure has diluted the sound recognised in their previous album ‘Settle’. With Lorde, the duo has managed to let her vocals roar amidst the nocturnal grooves, whereas some tracks see vocals fade out in the background. Sam Smith collaborates with Guy and Howard Lawrence once again, with yet another impressive track ‘Omen’. Other collaborators on the album include Miguel, Kwabs and Gregory Porter.

The 15-track album was released on 25th September worldwide.
