MUMBAI: Looks like Colors Infinity’s ‘The Stage’ is more than just a singing platform, and is turning dreams into reality. First EMI Records India signed one of the contestants from the show, which was foolowed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy working with a couple of them. Now, music composer duo- Vishal Shekhar has produced a song with another contestant- Aditya Narayan. While his name is similar to that of Bollywood singer/actor- Aditya Narayan, son of well known singer Udit Narayan, he has no relation to any of the Narayans. However, now he will have a connection with Bollywood in the form of a track with Vishal- Shekhar, which will feature in an upcoming Bollywood film.
“I got eliminated from the show, but I bagged a project with Vishal- Shekhar and this is a huge opportunity. It was an honour to work with them. I hope to get more work with the two as I am extremely fond of them,” said an elated Narayan.
Narayan, who recently got eliminated from ‘The Stage’, has been composing music since he was in the ninth grade. However, he took it up professionally only two years ago after moving to Mumbai. Before ‘The Stage’ happened to him, Narayan had been composing and producing music for ad films. He revealed that he works on a new commercial at an interval of three to four days. “The ads earn me my bread and butter,” confessed the composer.
In fact, Narayan stopped singing two years ago, as he got more serious about producing music, but got back to singing with ‘The Stage’. “Two years ago I had come down to Mumbai to sing for an ad film. Gradually, I realised that my voice is too soft for ads. This was when I got into music production. ‘The Stage’ helped me find myself as a musician, and I was really excited to be on the show. Colors Infinity was a big deal for me,” he said.
Speaking about his recent elimination from the show, a disheartened Narayan said, “You cannot be sure about how a particular song will work for you. At times it might just be a bad day and you do not sound good and you are out.”
But there is lot that this singer is taking home from his time on ‘The Stage’. “I have understood that my singing is good, but I need to work really hard; as there is competition. One must never lose hope no matter how hard things get,” he stated.
Furthermore, Narayan who suffers from speech impediment stated that it is his anxiety that pushes him to explore. Which is why, in spite of being born to a Hindustani classical vocalist, he chose to learn opera. And he stopped playing tabla, something that he practiced for 12 years, after finding interest in the guitar. “My anxiety to learn something new pushes me. I am always jumping onto new information about music, and I like listening to new styles of music. My anxiety has also helped me learn much more about music and ways of creating it,” revealed Narayan.
The singer is currently working on his album, which should be ready sometime soon. Narayan will be collaborating with other artists for the same.
