MUMBAI: Singer-songwriter-composer Raghu Dixit is all set to surprise his fans with a new line up at this year’s NH7 Weekender, Pune. Dixit’s band The Raghu Dixit Project used to be a five-member band until sometime last month. It has now turned into a 10-member band, which is great because it means more music for fans.
Dixit has added five more members to the outfit, but the surprise element does not stop at this. The Raghu Dixit Project will also, for the first time ever, have a female member in its midst. “We have our first ever lady band member in Kavya Lakshminarayanan. She is a trumpet player,” said Dixit.
Furthermore, the band will have a horn section and a violinist, which will also be added to the existing line up. “We will have a trombonist and a saxophonist. We are currently auditioning for a percussionist. We have three to four options and we will be finalising one pretty soon,” sated the singer.
The new line up of the band also has a lot to do with the performance that they will be putting up for Bollywood’s music maestro- A.R. Rahman at the NH7 Weekender this year. “We will be performing in front of the big man A.R. Rahman. So, we are under a lot of pressure,” confessed Dixit.
Furthermore, talking about his band the ‘Hey Bhagwan’ hitmaker said, “My band has never been a constant thing, it has been changing. The pride is in seeing in these musicians joining me, moulding and then wanting to become bigger, better musicians.”
Fans will be able to catch the new line-up for The Raghu Dixit Project on the second day (Saturday, 5 December) of the music festival.
