MUMBAI: Famous rapper-singer Hard Kaur recently tried her hands at remixing an old Hindi song. This song will feature in FOX Life’s upcoming season of ‘Soundtrek’.
The format of this show is such that a music composer collaborates with a singer of his/her choice to recreate a 70s Hindi song. Under the same, Kaur recreated ‘Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho’ from the 1973 movie ‘Hanste Zakhm.’ ‘Meherbani’ singer Jubin Nautiyal has lent his voice for the remixed version.
“When you take up an old composition you have to respect it. You cannot spoil the original version. The fact is that you can never recreate something better than the original, but you can try for a ‘wow’ worthy output. That is what our attempt has been here,” said the ‘Move Your Body’ singer.
The remixed version of ‘Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho’ is a hip-hop and R&B song with flavour of jazz and blues. Further, though Kaur has recreated a song recently, she is not in the favour of recreating old songs. “Remixes do not get a singer royalty because the song does not belong to them, and the same goes for covers. Thus, working on original content is important for a singer,” she stated.
Kaur’s last song ‘Kattey’ featured in ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’. Her next single ‘Aise Karte Hai Party’ will be released on 14 January, 2016 by Times Music. The track is a party song and will feature Kaur in a new look.
