Indians accept the change with love and passion: DJ Headhunterz

MUMBAI: Willem Rebergen is one of the biggest names in Hardstyle electronic music genre who plays with the stage name Headhunterz. He is a major contributor in growing the popularity in the world of Hardstyle.

He started his career in 2005. The 30 year old Dutch musician has released the majority of his work through label Scantraxx. But it was in 2013 when he signed with the American label Ultra Music which indicated the increasing popularity of Hardstyle music by Rebergen.

He recently played at Sunburn Goa in India, about which he says, “It is a rich experience to play in India. The audience here is evolving in terms of electronic music; they accept the change with love and passion.”

Speaking on the increasing number of electronic music parties in developing countries, Rebergen said, “It is a good change, developing countries don’t get a lot of parties, they don’t get to see the top DJ play regularly, so when there is an increase in festivals, it is good for fans to see their artists perform.”

Being known as one of the pioneers of Hardstyle, Headhunterz said, “In the coming years, EDM genres will change, artists will experiment more, new sounds will emerge, but EDM will stay for long time. Yes, there are spans where some genres die, but it will always emerge as modified versions. It has up and downs but it will always survive.”

Headhunterz said that he is working in collaboration with KSHMR but declined from giving more information while asking for patience, since the work would be released this year.
