MUMBAI: Science-fiction thriller Gravity has managed to rule the music category of 86th annual Academy Awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Nottingham-born composer Steven Price walked away the Oscar for the best original score in 'Gravity’.
Price has already won the original music award for his score in the film at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. He is also best known for scoring in ‘The World's End’.
Meanwhile, U2 lost out on the chance for an Oscar to ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen which emerged as the winner in the original song category. The music and lyrics of the track was given by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Glenn Freemantle got his Oscar for his Sound editing skills in the film Gravity. The sci-fi film also won in the sound mixing category. Skip Lievsay, Niv Adiri, Christopher Benstead and Chris Munro were involved in sound mixing of the film.
Gravity in totality took home seven Oscars including Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron. The film was also awarded six BAFTA Awards, including outstanding British film and best director, the Golden Globe Award for best director, and seven Critics Choice Awards.
