MUMBAI: One can keep on ranting about reality shows, but there is no denying the fact that they do churn out talent. Yashita Sharma is one of the few talents that made their way into the real world through a reality show. The singer gained recognition on Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ as its first runner up and went on to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Martaba’ in ‘All The Best’. However, it was ‘Chaandaniya’ from ‘2 States’ and ‘Gallan Goodiyan’ from ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ that earned the singer recognition. With ‘Lapak Jhapak’ from the Sunny Deol starrer ‘Ghayal Once Again’, the singer is all set to reach new heights.
So far, the response for ‘Lapak Jhapak’ has been extremely positive for Sharma. And what makes her happy is the fact that people have started recognizing her voice. “Earlier, it was I who used to tell people about my songs. But now I have been getting calls from people telling me that they heard my song. People have started recognizing my voice,” exclaimed Sharma.
Talking about the recording of the song, she said, “The song is not as easy as it sounds. It was very tough to dub it. Hence, Armaan (Malik), Siddharth (Mahadevan) and I couldn’t do too much masti during the recording. We were busy cracking our heads on how to hit the right notes.” Mallik and Mahadevan have co-sung the song with Sharma.
The pretty singer has a long list of music composers that she wants to work with in the future. “I would want to work with Mithoon, Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman and many more,” she said.
When asked if any of the above music composers have contacted her as yet, she responded, “Not yet. I am sure they will. I keep bumping into them at the airport (laughs). I am not going to hurry into things. I am just going to wait for my time to come.”
Apart from singing for Bollywood films and concerts, the singer also likes writing songs. Sharma has a flair for writing and she has written some beautiful lyrics in her free time. “I write a lot of emotional songs. I can’t really write an item number. I believe that I will write some good fun songs. Though I haven’t tried that as yet,” revealed the singer.
Lastly, Sharma expressed her desire to get a solo hit as she said, “I have got recognition to an extent with ‘Chaandaniya’ and ‘Gallan Goodiyan’ but I still wish that I could get a solo hit.”
