MUMBAI: 'Aanan Faanan' fame singer Akriti Kakar is about to step into a new phase of her life – marriage. The singer will be marrying her long-time friend, ad filmmaker Chirag Arora on 5 March, 2016. The duo met six years ago at a friend’s house warming party. But it was only a couple of years ago that they decided to take their friendship to a new level.
The wedding will be a grand affair with the celebration starting from 3 March, 2016. Day 1 will have shagun, chunni, engagement and sangeet. Day 2 will have mehendi and bachelor’s night on the boy’s side. Day 3, which also happens to be the wedding day, will begin with haldi and chuda, followed by the wedding and reception. Day 4 will have a formal reception. The newlyweds will then return to Mumbai to plan their honeymoon by the end of March.
Bride-to-be Kakar confirmed the same, “It will be a traditional Punjabi wedding in Delhi, as both of us are from Delhi.”
When asked how Arora proposed to her, she said, “It was Chirag who proposed to me on my birthday. He booked an entire place and filled it with red balloons. He recorded a cover version of ‘All Of Me’ by John Legend and the song played in the background as he proposed. I usually find romantic gestures too cheesy but this time, I loved it!”
Kakar’s relationship with Arora has been that of a friend and she believes it will continue to be the same post their marriage. In fact, she feels that her to-be-husband has only made things better for her. His presence in her life has made her more enthusiastic about her career. He also helped her embrace the music composer in her, she says.
“It’s important to have matching wavelength with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Moreover, you cannot have someone who would be insecure about you. With Chirag that has never been the issue,” said the ‘Dil Vich Lagya Ve’ singer.
Both families have been extremely supportive of the match. “My parents saw it coming because I have never lied to them about anything. So, they always knew that I was meeting him more often than anyone else. When it came to marriage, they accepted us happily and so did Chirag’s family. They are not from the fraternity but they completely understand my profession and support me,” averred Kakar.
Everyone attending the wedding will be in for a treat as the bride-to-be has decided to sing at her wedding. “I will not just sing but also make others sing at my wedding.”
The distribution of the wedding cards has already begun. Radioandmusic.com gets you the exclusive pictures of the wedding card.
