Exclusive: Kailasa to tour US to promote new album 'Ishq Anokha'

MUMBAI: Kailasa - fronted and found by Kailash Kher- will release its fifth studio album titled 'Ishq Anokha' in the first week of March 2016.

The album comprises eight tracks, and as the name suggests, 'Ishq Anokha' will revolve around the subject of love. The band will tour the United States in July or August this year to promote the album. The band also plans to tour various cities in India, with a focus on exploring newer venues and festivals.

Kailasa, for ten years since its inception, formed compositions and music that could be defined in several ways, but for the dimunitive vocalist, "It's a way of life." Kher admits Kailasa's forte is the 'sound of romance' and the band hopes to portray, once again, what their music stands for.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com on the sidelines of the SulaFest in Nashik over the weekend, Kher expressed the idea of love that he strongly believes in - "Love has millions of dimensions and expressions and emotions. Love is enigma. What Kailasa does, is simplify things, so people could relate to it. Some people fail to express their love, and Kailasa acts as their medium." Kher loves being on the stage, but it is the moments with fans that he never fails to forget. "I have seen fans come to me and claim their lives have changed since listening to Kailasa. Fans with suicidal tendencies, extreme depression have revealed how Kailasa played a huge role while going through a difficult phase," said Kher.

With 'Ishq Anokha', Kailasa would once again like to make people fall in love, or out of sadness. The band gave a glimpse into this at SulaFest on the night of 7 February 2016, when every fan facing the main stage sang along, as Kailash revisited some of the band's popular hits - 'Saiyaan', 'Bum Bum Lahiri' and more. The cool weather of Nashik, the glasses of wine, the set-up of the stage, and the technically flawless sound would have made 'Kailasa' an ideal headlining act for the festival. However, Kailasa did not headline the fest, per se, but hardly anybody can argue with the fact that the Mumbai-based outfit stole the two day show.

'Ishq Anokha' will be the first album release in four years for 'Kailasa'. The band's last album release 'Rangeele' came out in 2012.
