MUMBAI: Four artistes from different genres for a tribute to a music idol. Luke Bryan, John Legend, Demi Lovato and Meghan Trainor will join hands to pay tribute to four-time Grammy winner Lionel Richie at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
Richie is the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year. MusiCares, The Recording Academy’s affiliated health and human services charity, provides emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery resources for music people in need.
For the tribute to the ‘Hello’ singer, the music artistes will take audiences on a journey spanning The Commodores-era classics to memorable hits that earned Richie a Grammy for Album Of The Year in 1984, read a statement.
As part of the segment, Richie will also take the stage to join the artistes in performing a special collaborative rendition of one of his all-time classics.
Two-time Grammy winner LL Cool J will host the awards gala for the fifth consecutive year. The annual musical gala will take place on 15 February at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live in India on Vh1 channel on 16 February.
Bryan, Lovato, and Trainor will each make their Grammy debuts this year.
Nine-time Grammy winner John Legend is nominated for four awards this year: Best Rap Song, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Song Written For Visual Media for ‘Glory’; and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for ‘One man can change the world.’
Trainor is nominated for Best New Artist this year.
