MUMBAI: Prateek Kuhad's upward trajectory in the alternative (or the independent) music scene has surely taken the artist and his compositions to places where many songwriters merely aspire to.
From bars to multi-band festivals, Kuhad has left an impression through his pop rock arrangements and minimal, pop sounds that truly helped him transform from 'an artist to look for' to 'a matured music act' that helps organisers sell tickets.
Things have surely got better for Kuhad since the release of his album 'In Tokens & Charms', last year. The album was picked as the 'Best
Indian Indie album' of 2015, and the accolade says a lot about the songwriter's growth as a musician.
Prateek Kuhad has now been selected as an official showcase artist for South by South West (SXSW) Music conference 2016. Held annually, the conference is considered as one of the largest and most influential global music events. The festival will showcase over 2200 artists, this year, and the registrations are expected to cross the 30,000 mark.
To be held at Stephen's Bar in Austin, Texas, USA, Prateek Kuhad will not be the only Indian artist at the conference. 'Hashback Hashish' - New Delhi-based act- will be another Indian act at this year's event.
Kuhad's showcase has been scheduled for 18 March. (9 pm to 9:40 pm)
