MUMBAI: Ellie Goulding, the English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is taking a break from the music industry after an allegedly rough break up with Dougie Poynter, who is an English musician, and youngest member of pop rock band McFly. The couple has been together for two years and they broke up recently as Ellie says that she desires to "get to know" herself well again.
The 29-year-old soloist will complete her Delirium world expedition this October. Ellie said she and Dougie had a discussion having family and they both frankly hinted about the wedding, as she explained to The Sun, UK.
She studied English and drama at the University of Kent but she had to quit in her final year after she signed a record deal with Polydor in 2009. She has produced three highly praised albums, gone on to sell 27 million singles collectively, and even sang for US President Barack Obama and his family at the White House. But her private life has not been as successful as her music career.
In a defiantly raw and sincere interview with The Sun, UK, she said, “People think I’m invincible but these past few weeks have been tough. I’m not in a relationship anymore and that’s been hard. Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head.”
