MUMBAI: There's good news in the air for lovers of ghazals. Radio Mirchi is planning a launch a show that will relive the golden era of the ghazal within the next fortnight, Radioandmusic.com has learnt.
While we still do not have official confirmation from the Mirchi network, veteran ghazal singer Roopkumar Rathod confirmed to Radioandmusic.com that he would be part of the show, likely to be christened 'Mehfil-e-ghazal'.
Rathod says the show will be specially devised for ghazal admirers and the essence of the show is targeted at those who miss the 'Era of Ghazal'. It feels good that the ghazal is making its way back to the hearts of youngsters despite the overwhelming presence of Bollywood music, added the veteran singer.
The ghazal is not new to private FM radio however. Big FM has had its run of 'Caravan-e-ghazal' while Radio City had its 'Shaam-e-ghazal' which also had Rathod on its roster.
