MUMBAI: Rupak Dhamankar, a trained tabla player and percussionist, is in his early 20s, but his passion for music seems older. He stepped into the world of rhythms at the age of eight. Since then, he has been deeply and passionately in love with this art form. As an extension of his love for the art, he recently set up a music studio - R&B Studios.
R&B Studios provides three services according to Dhamankar:
Jam Room: Here the bands can jam.
Music & Institue: Students can learn music.
Recording studio: Artiste can record their songs.
"We create a learning environment that is different from the others. We get well-known industry musicians to teach them and also work towards making them better performers. We will conduct annual concerts for our students to get over the stage fear. we also teach them in a place that has a recording studio feel. So, that their fear of facing a microphone vanishes. We have also divided the weekly session into two parts - 45 minutes learning and the other 45 minutes of practice," said Dhamankar who is just three months old in the business.
The percussionist has tried keeping his studio bit different from others by taking help from the industry experts in selecting the equipment for jam sessions. "We've also selected equipment keeping in mind the different genres of music," stated the owner of R&B Studios.
Dhamankar started this 24X7 studio with his college friend, music composer, and sound engineer Karamveer Bright. "The studio is a dream come true for both us," shared Dhamankar.
Dhamankar has played with various artistes like Grammy Award winner Vikku Vinayakram, Ravi Iyer and Chintu Bhosle amongst others.
