Sonu Nigam sings for Kannada movie 'Fly'; composed by Raghu Dixit

MUMBAI: How often does an artiste get associated with the word 'versatile', despite falling short of its usual requirements? For over two decades, playback singer Sonu Nigam has been successfully experimenting and succeeding in genres of music catering to audiences beyond the mainstream Hindi cinema.

For the latest such effort, Nigam completed the recording for an upcoming Kannada movie 'Fly'. Directed by Bharath G., the movie reintroduces Sonu Nigam for the vocal responsibility of one of the tracks from the movie. Composed by the music director, Raghu Dixit, the song adds to the impressive list of over 500 Kannada songs that Nigam has contributed for. Born in Haryana, Nigam's last contribution came through the track 'Yelle Hoduru' for the 2015-release 'Sharp Shooter'.

The music director took to the social media to praise Nigam's effort, who still has not entirely recovered from the post-knee-surgery complications.

The playback singer completed the vocal portions in a couple of takes, and the experience amassed in the Kannada music industry surely helped the 43-year-old. Raghu Dixit declined to comment on more details about the song, however, the audio would be out in few weeks.

Nigam continues to spell his magic through his voice and the surgery might might have slowed down the singer's physical movements, but failed to dampen his vocal strength. Last month, Nigam attempted a similar effort through Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Azhar', where the singer recorded the entire song sitting on the couch.
