I did not expect my voice to be a part of 'Taang Uthake' : Hrishikesh Chury

MUMBAI: Singer Hrishikesh Chury fell in love with music during his college days. The love soon turned to passion and the positive feedback that came his way bolstered his desire to venture into Bollywood music.

This story began a decade ago. The struggle has not yet come to a halt for Chury, neither has the fire within. He is passionate about singing and clear about his goals. With an MBA in Human Resources under his belt, Chury could have settled with a job after his initial days of struggle, but he opted otherwise. “I continued taking up events to keep the home fires burning but continued knocking on the industry's doors to keep the singer in me alive,” said the singer, his eyes still shining with hope.

He did get an opportunity to sing in a few Bollywood movies, but as fate would have it, these never saw the light of day. A silver lining was 'Hey Yaar Sunlo Jara' from the Govinda starrer ‘Naughty @40’, but it did not get Chury any more assignments.

This is when the singer raised an issue that he still holds closest to his heart – ‘Bharat Ratna for Rafi Saab’(http://www.radioandmusic.com/entertainment/editorial/news/151229-hrishik...). Chury joined forces with Rafi's family to push for what they believe is true recognition of the music legend's contribution to the country. “The cause is too close to my heart for I am a die hard fan of Rafi Saab,” he stated.

The singer recently bagged an opportunity to sing for Housefull 3's 'Taang Uthake'. The song is a party number sung by Mika Singh, Sohail Sen, Neeti Mohan, Mamta Sharma and Chury. It is composed by Sohail Sen and it features the lead pairs of the film Akshay Kumar-Jacqueline Fernandez, Abhishek Bachchan- Nargis Fakhri and Riteish Deshmukh-Lisa Haydon.

“I did not expect my voice to be a part of the song, but I was more than happy to see it make it to the final video and amongst the other singers' names,” confessed the singer who has seen too many of his songs being replaced by other voices.

'Taang Uthake' is getting a lot of accolades for Chury both from friends and industry. However, he is still waiting for that one song that will make him stand out. Till then, “I will keep working towards it,” he ends simply.
