MUMBAI: There is no better way to understand the music of Bengaluru-based Parvaaz than to experience its live performances. June and July offer precisely this experience for fans based in five cities.
To call Parvaaz one of the finest Indian rock acts would not be an exaggeration and if the genre of psychedelic rock woven with poetic lyrical beauty soothes your soul, then the band’s latest outing stands as another ideal opportunity to quench your musical thirst.
Bengaluru-based rock band Parvaaz will begin the five city tour on Thursday at Gurgaon’s Hard Rock Café ensuring its debut performance in the city. Parvaaz kicks off the tour on 16 June in the northern city, followed by a performance on its home turf - Bengaluru - a fortnight later.
Vocalist Khalid Ahamed spoke from Kashmir and cites recording sessions for the new album as the reason for the lengthy breaks between two performances. “The band has been focusing on its new album right now. That stopped us from executing the tour in the usual multi-city tour period. Between the first two performances, we’d be hitting the studios and finishing the new album.” Ahamed also informed that the new effort would be its longest one so far and the 10-track album requires the band’s consistent contribution in the coming months.
Parvaaz’s last three performances of the tour fall in the space of one week, although only after another 24-day hiatus before resuming the tour at Pune’s High Spirits on 24 July. “It would not be our usual set-list, and we will regale our fans with a few of our lesser performed songs,” added the vocalist.
Parvaaz’s latest effort is the six-year-old act’s second full-length album in two years, after releasing its first EP in 2012. The band will also perform in Mumbai and Hyderabad at the end of July.
