MUMBAI: New York / New Jersey-based RnB/Pop sensation Amrit Dasu a.k.a. DASU recently released his new single 'Frenemies'. While having a candid conversation with Radioandmsuic.com, Dasu shared his journey, the story behind the new single Frenemies, his upcoming projects and more. Read on to know more.
Born in the USA, raised in Hong Kong, Dasu moved back to America for high school and started doing music there. “It began when I was really young. I was heavily influenced by RnB and Hip Hop when I was a child. I write about personal things or things I see happen to close people around me, then work on a beat around it and then come up with a melody to fit the song. That’s how it works. I have started working with Rishi Rich who’s arguably the most successful Asian music producer of our times. He got me signed to Universal Music India and we released a track called Did I Love you. So far the journey has been amazing, UMG has been really supportive,” said Dasu who is influenced by Michael Jackson, Chris brown, Jay Sean and Justin Timberlake from childhood.
While talking about the brand new track ‘Frenemies’, he said, “This is a very personal song. I wrote this song when I was at a really low point in my life and confused by a lot of things. I had everything to be proud of but no one to share it with. I was searching for something REAL. Nowadays everything is so fake and superficial. The song is a reminder that I cannot forget where I come from and I cannot let anything change who I really am.”
Dasu has sung in Hindi, Punjabi, and English and done a few covers of famous Bollywood songs as well. As of now, he wishes to sing in Cantonese and he is concentrating on singles plus albums for near future.
“I’m looking forward to dropping another single in 2016 and I have a track with Rishi Rich in Mohit Suri’s film Half Girlfriend, I’m really excited about that,” informed Dasu while talking about his upcoming projects.
