13-year-old flautist Suleiman wins India's Got Talent 7

MUMBAI: Thirteen-year-old flautist Suleiman from Amritsar won the talent based reality show India's Got Talent 7 on Saturday, 9 July 2016. Suleiman, disciple of flute maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia, started learning to play the flute at the age of three. On 9 July, Saturday night it seems as if the whole country voted for the flute boy.

‘India’s Got Talent Season 7’ started on 30 April 2016 and the show was hosted by comedian Bharti Singh and actor Siddharth Shukla. Filmmaker Karan Johar, actors Kirron Kher and Malaika Arora Khan were on the judges’ panel.

After winning the show Suleiman said, “Winning the show is my biggest achievement as it made my father’s dream come true. The show has given me a platform to showcase my talent in front of the world and the opportunity to pursue my talent further. I would like to thank my father and my guru Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia Ji without whom I wouldn’t have reached here.”

Suleiman has already performed in several cities such as Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, and Ahmedabad. Music and sense of tunes are something that he has inherited from his extremely talented parents, who too are professional musicians.

Programming Head of Colors channel, Manisha Sharma said, “This season, we went beyond all previous benchmarks by including elements like the checkered floor and spotlight amongst others which helped us discover extraordinary talent.”

While Suleiman mentioned A R Rahman and singer Arijit Singh as his icons, his best moment from the show was meeting none other than Salman Khan during the actor’s promotion of his latest film ‘Sultan’.
