Madhushree re-invents herself with evolving music scene

MUMBAI: Change is inevitable and constant, and the Bollywood music industry is currently going through it. There are new forms of music, streaming and younger breed of tech-savvy music composers. Thus, the musician is left with no option, but to adapt as that is the ultimate law of this planet.

The ones who fail to adapt to the growing change fizzle out. But, the ones who evolve with time manage to stay strong.

'Kabhi Neem Neem' singer Madhushree has managed to withstand this change for more than a decade now. In fact, she made her entry in the Bollywood space, during the transition. "I entered the industry when things were changing. The music reality shows were booming and today such is the state that not many recognise reality TV faces. I am lucky to have made a mark for myself. People recognise my voice," said the 'Tu Bin Bataye' singer.

Madhushree who has seen the CD phase and is currently experiencing streaming service boom states that she is enjoying it all.

The sudden availability of fresh singers in the music scene did push Madhushree out of Bollywood work for a short span, but she has no complaints. In fact, she is glad to see the new friendly approach. "People aren't waiting for anybody, everyone gets work. Earlier the industry was dominated by a handful singers, not anymore. There are younger, fresh, faces and voices willing to sing for free. Established singers would not do that. But, then again it's their gain. I feel happy for the newbies," explained the singer who was busy with concerts during this phase.

The hiatus is over now and Madhushree will be back with a bang in 2017. "This year has been about Bollywood and my songs will release next year. So, yes, you will get to hear more of me."

The singer is also enjoying working with the younger lot of music directors. "The younger lot is easy going. They accept you easily. There are also newer technologies that make the job easier," ended the 'Hum Hain Iss Paal Yahan' singer.
