MUMBAI: Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who was imprisoned last month because of his provocative and offensive tweet against journalist Swati Chaturvedi on Twitter thinks that has paid for being a nationalist.

Abhijeet was asked by a Twitterati if he really went to jail, to which the singer responded through his tweet.

According to some media reports, on Friday the Mumbai police confirmed that the singer was arrested last month after a complaint against him for harassing a female journalist on Twitter.

The police had registered an FIR against the singer on the basis of the complaint filed by Aam Aadmi Party National Executive Member and Spokesperson Preeti Sharma Menon. The FIR was filed on charges of public obscenity and outrage of modesty.

Later, Abhijeet was bailed out by his son and also wept because of the incident.
