What makes Bollywood Music Project different from the herd?

MUMBAI: Those who dreamt of watching Bollywood music’s leading voices under one roof, Event Capital and TM Talent Management have finally answered their prayers. The much-awaited debut of Bollywood Music Project  will host an impressive list of artists including Arijit Singh, Amit Trivedi, Papon, Zubeen Garg and many more. Sure, the Bollywood’s very own music festival has arrived quite late however the organisers have ensured several elements for a proper build-up that would lead to the two-day festival on 30 September and 1 October.

The awareness through marketing and promotional activities only act as the tip of what the BMP (Bollywood Music Project) would offer through its first edition.

On Home Turf

The financial hub, Mumbai, has hosted several grand initiatives in entertainment through several genres, but rarely focusing purely on live music. The city is home to the film and music industry, and the very factor makes the absence of such a festival even more surprising. But BMP vowed to change that. Hosting a two-day festival at the heart of the city requires deep pockets, and thanks to the associates who joined the cause, the first edition will be held at Jio Garden, BKC. Considered as one of the most expensive and in-demand venues of the city, a grand concept like BMP deserves a grand platform. An ideal venue like Jio Gardens attracts more crowds considering its easy accessibility, spacious surroundings, synthetic turf and the massive dimensions of the ground spreading across 5000 sq. mts.

Start of something big

One of the brains behind BMP, Swaroop Banerjee informed on how the team BMP has already started to think about the festival’s future models and prospects. The festival will soon travel to other cities of India, for the upcoming editions, and that’s not all. Bollywood Music Project has the potential and star-power to easily pull in the same magnitude of crowd in the countries like UAE and UK, and if things go right, the project will soon start looking for venues outside India. Pretty Neat. Musicians have come together under one roof and performed in a show, but that has only restricted to award shows or charity events. A bollywood music festival on international soil would only further help the industry’s reputation on a global scale.

Never Heard Before Music

Usually, Bollywood musicians stick to the nature of the composed songs for their performances, and not a lot of effort is invested in recreating the same compositions. The nature of BMP allows musicians to try and experiment with their music and rework on songs with the artistic freedom that they normally would not enjoy. So, expect Arijit Singh to perform an acoustic/alternative version of ‘Kabira’ or ‘Gerua’ and who knows- perhaps Amit Trivedi may join him for an impromptu jam on the stage too.

Not just a Music ‘Festival’

There’s a reason why the event has been called ‘Bollywood Music Project’. Apart from the obvious factors concerning live music, BMP would also promote and encourage unheard voices and names to perform on the stage before Arijit Singh’s performance. Through the concept of ‘Talent Hunt’, the panel led by Rekha Bhardwaj, Hariharan, Sajid-Wajid and Sunny MR, BMP would hone talent from across the country enabling the birth of forward thinking concept and not just an annual concert. The talent hunt has already reached its fifth week, and two winners (mainline and alternative) will be picked by the panel to perform on the stage.

Master Class

As mentioned earlier, BMP extends beyond just a music festival. The project balances the two ultimate causes – entertainment and education – through the two-day extravaganza and a master class prior to the event, respectively. The master class will provide an exclusive peek into the professional lives of these musicians. Featuring several prominent names of the Bollywood music industry, audio/video podcasts would be released, periodically, as a run-up to the festival. These audio and video efforts would involve artists sharing vital information about their singing or music compositions. These artists would also answer some of the fans questions, thus bridging the gap between them and the fans through a medium of communication.
